OUR VISION
At Liz Rocks, we make outdoor adventure accessible for youth who need it most — building confidence, connection, and courage in every climb. At Liz Rocks, we make outdoor adventure accessible for youth who need it most — building confidence, connection, and courage in every climb.
We believe adventure changes everything.
Our mission is to bring climbing and mountain experiences to urban and underrepresented youth — giving them the tools to face challenges, build community, and reach new peaks in life.
Participating in outdoor activities encourages students become environmental stewards with a hands on approach.
OUR WORK IN ACTION
The Liz Rocks Climbing Wall @ YMCA: A two-story indoor monument to Liz’s spirit — the highest YMCA wall in the region, serving as a launchpad for thousands of youth.
Youth Access & Partnerships: We work with schools and community organizations to fund transportation, program costs, and gear so every child can climb, regardless of income.

LOCAL SCHOOLS & YOUTH PROGRAMS
We team up with various youth organizations to support outdoor adventures. The Liz Rocks Foundation supports groups through free scheduled access to the Liz Rocks Climbing wall and funding outdoor adventures (transportation and or program expenses). If you are interested in getting your youth group outdoors please reach out at info@lizrocks.com.
LEADERS OF TOMORROW
Through the generous support of American Alpine Institute, Liz Rocks offers its annual Liz Rocks Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship. This scholarship ($5555 value) seeks to support diversity in the mountains while helping underrepresented youth reach new peaks in their life. This scholarship allows one student to attend AAI’s youth leadership program.
AAI’s youth leadership program focuses on situational judgment and decision-making in a mountain setting while providing a base of general outdoor know-how and mountain sense. Participants learn rock-climbing skills, glacier travel techniques, crevasse rescue, navigation and other skills necessary for an attempt on 10,781-foot Mt. Baker as well as on other peaks.

Meet Jose
2018 Scholarship Recipient
Jose is 17 years old and will be a senior in high school next fall. One of his greatest passions is being outdoors; he loves the physical challenge and the change of scenery. He enjoys backpacking and snowboarding and eager is to learn more skills. After high school, he hopes to go to school to become a fireman so that he can help people. Maybe he will become a backcountry wilderness firefighter! Jose has faced a lot of adversity in his life, but he has never let it slow him down and stand in the way of achieving his goals.
MEET MARIA
2017 Recipient
